OspreyHD completed production of a 30-minute narrative film entitled "Song of Pumpkin Brown" in June of 2007 - the first product of the South Carolina Film Comission's $100,000 Film Fund filmmaking grant. |
The historical film soulfully tells the story of a grieving 10-year-old's discovery of the jazz trumpet in 1961 South Carolina after the death of his preacher father, told within the context of the Jenkins Orphanage and their vaunted music program. In addition to the OspreyHD team, the project was an exciting collaboration between Southeastern creatives such as painter Jonathan Green, noted jazz percussionist and composer Quentin Baxter, and jazz researcher and writer Jack McCray.

The film's impressively cinematic look was created on OspreyHD's in-house Panasonic HDX900 HD Cinema camera packages. The HDX-900 provided a level of cinematography unseen in similar scaled films, constantly impressing the crew of seasoned professionals with its abilities in low-light set-ups and overall capture. Additionally, Jayne came to production armed with a highly-thought-out look and series of signature shots designed explicitly, and the camera package easily handled the most complicated and demanding set-ups. |
